About

Welcome to CIO-Tech.com.

This blog is a way for me to share insights from my 30-years of successfully troubleshooting critical network and application problems for the largest and most visible organizations in the world.

My Critical Problem Resolution (CPR) adventures have brought me into the inner circles of organizations suffering from connectivity issues and/or degraded application or network performance. Most of these problems directly impacted part or all of the given organization’s essential operations.

In addition to diagnosing and mitigating problems, I’ve seen the stressful psychological and sociological side-effects of these high-visibility events. In many cases, appreciating and truly understanding the Business Perspective has been integral to our CPR efforts. As such, this blog is also a place for us to learn from you: we hope that you’ll share your thoughts and experiences with us in the form of comments.

In times of crisis, some executives prefer the Forklift Upgrade approach to problem remediation, spending budget wildly on new initiatives in every technology area; others choose a more pinpoint approach, identifying their IT vital signs and spending in a manner that eliminates bottlenecks and maximizes ROI. The latter approach, while cost-effective, nonetheless requires a commitment to the Best Practices that obviate problems rather than react to them.

In effect, the real root cause of every technical problem is either the absence or ineffective implementation of process. As IT leaders, you can control your own destiny in this important regard, ensuring that your organization adheres to the best processes and practices available. That’s where we come in.

Our intention is to provide our readers with innovative discussion that foster the adoption of sound IT management practices, closing the loopholes through which performance and critical problems can creep into existence.
